Self-publishing a "vanity project"? NO WAY!

Lately, I have read comments online about Indi published books.

"Oh, they're vanity projects!"

Sound familiar?

Writing a book is far from a vanity project—it's an act of creation that holds immense value both personally and culturally.

Books have the unique power to capture the complexity of human emotions and experiences, often resonating with readers in ways that provide comfort, inspiration, or a sense of connection.

Every book contributes to the rich tapestry of literature, offering a distinct voice and perspective while reflecting on what it means to be human.

The process of writing demands dedication, creativity, and resilience, making it a significant achievement to complete a book or novel. Furthermore, books possess the remarkable ability to challenge perspectives, offer escapism, or simply entertain, sometimes arriving in a reader's life at just the right moment.

They also have a lasting impact, serving as a legacy that connects with generations to come.

So, the next time someone dismisses writing a book as a vanity project, remind them that it's the result of an author pouring their heart and soul into something meaningful. Writing 80,000 plus words to connect with just one person and touch their emotions ; or to make them think or change perspective - is no mean feat.

And, if necessary, you can always metaphorically slap them with a wet flip-flop to make your point!
